Living the Dream

The polychromatic palate of classic ivory, robust raspberry, and cooling mint, forge a delectable flow throughout the home; like walking into the pages of a Florentine storybook- Belsize Park is a home that belongs to a fairy tale.

It’s whimsically inspired interior of soft textures, translucent surfaces and off-beat touches, gives the owner, and anyone who enters - a marvellous escape from the tough realities of life.

During construction this elegant, albeit slightly antiquated Victorian building was transformed into a stunning sanctuary, with 4M having injected some much needed fun and surprise into its ornate structure.

4M designed and constructed a spacious and open atmosphere that shows a healthy disregard for the rules with avant-garde swathes of romantic colours, irregularly angled book shelves, a sculptural staircase, and doors that serve as functional art work.

Whilst the initial design merged only to the ground floor and first-level apartments, when the owner acquired the second apartment above her property, she contacted 4M to include the two. It was important to create fusion, and keep consistent with the existing interior style.

By working with and building upon the classical features, 4M transformed a crammed and boring old living space into one, which glitters with creative grandeur and pops with modern exuberance.

The process took the combined spaces through several stages, ticking the big four regeneration boxes: knocking through, extending up, filling out and finally down.

At the client’s request, 4M initiated an ‘optional’ open plan scheme, in the lower ground floor–  which entailed allowing the interconnectiong living areas to be closed off from view to conceal privacy when required.

Inspired by our client's love for art, we took the best of the classical and contemporary, and twisted them together to reinvent her own unique set of Victorian French doors.

Exhibiting 4M Works precision skill with our in-house laser machine, we intricately cut through the double-height wooden panels, to create a ‘see through’ design - allowing the personality of any posterior to peek cheekily through its crevices.

In the main bathroom 4M created a high-spec scheme, stripping the bathroom tiles to be replaced with sustainable Ipe wood flooring, a Murano glass chandelier, and a free standing bathtub.

The use of such extreme contrast of colour debunks the myth that bold colours make rooms feel small. In fact, quite the contrary - by not breaking the lines with a white ceiling, or window frames, the single colour deepens the mood and evokes a lively sensation.

The finished result is a seamless schematic that wields it regal splendour to full effect – for which the client proudly calls: "A triumph of creativity, and smart interior design."

It is truly a delightful success that pampers the senses, recapturing and reinterpreting all of that the good doctor finds beautiful.
