Café Phillies

Installed in the far corner, providing a unique element of embossed tactility stood a distinctly 4M, ceiling-to-floor length wine rack. Designed and built specifically for Cafe Phillies, it was created with reclaimed wood and recycled metal - the perfect eye pleasing compliment, to its neighbouring bar countertop – a daily showcase of fresh breads, and appetizers to choose from.

Above, the ceiling draws a deep dramatic charcoal - a stark contrast with the otherwise ivory interior. Only the fenestration edges carry the charcoal colour to the floor, which also provides the border for the double height feature windows , that multi-function as sliding panels to open up onto the pavement - the ideal setting to dew the wine glasses on a warm summers evening.

By incorporating its own touch of signature elegance, 4M came up with a design that would mix the homely comfort of a rustic grill, to allude to the soft, sensual class of a South of France cafe.

High-in-demand for their delicious European cuisine, 4M wanted to provide the perfect framing for the restaurant’s excellent repertoire of organic ingredients and exquisite presentation; for which would enhance, but by no means detract, from the restaurants best features.

To do this, the restaurant underwent complete re-materialisation as well as renovation, and transformed what seemed like a cramped school canteen with greying personality, to an invigorated and serene space – that welcomed its guests, and nurtured their enjoyment. No detail was leave left unclaimed for this trendy restaurant that fringed the upmarket footpaths of London’s South Kensington High Street.

To cast an atmosphere of intimacy, 4M matched elegant period feature chandeliers to suspend like grapes on a vine from the ceiling, and fastened a lavish, gold encased mirror by the front entrance, expanding the horizon of the room, enabling guest to glance at one another in circularity.

The centred dining area, boasts a blend of classic oakwood furnishings. Left to flourish in their raw rudimentary, together they indulge in a playful patchwork of linearity, with the stately solid floorboards underfoot.

Behind the bar, the result of a clever mash-up between need and novelty, features the bespoke shelving - that also completes as a menu board – proudly displaying all of the variety of choices that Cafe Phillies offers its guests.

When put in combination together, these ingredients fuse to create a quaint and cherished retreat, with an intimate and wholesome ambience – the perfect setting to share time and memories with excellent food and beloved company.
